1. What is the GE Color Run?
The Glacier Edge (GE) Color Run is for all Glacier Edge families, not just the kids.  We encourage families to participate in the run together and/or cheer each other on.  This is a healthy activity for all to engage in during Screen Free Week.  Check out the other sections on this website for a map of the one mile route.  The run will begin and end near the Glacier Edge playground.  The run will take place on the sidewalk with volunteers at each intersection for safety.  We are anticipating 4 waves with the first wave starting at 6pm and subsequent waves starting after.  Wave #1 (4th/5th Graders), Wave #2 (2nd/3rd Graders), Wave #3 (Kindergarten/1st Graders) and Wave #4 (Families/Strollers).

2. Can I run with my student?
Absolutely!  Wear a white shirt and join in the fun.  You may choose to run in the grade-level wave of your student if they want to run with their classmates or feel free to run together as a family in Wave #4.  We will have volunteers along the race course in yellow shirts to help the kids cross the streets safely.  And if you decide not to run, we encourage you to pick a street and cheer all the racers on.

3. How does the color work?
The DJ will count down to a "Color Blast" where students can use their color packets they earned during the fundraiser.  During the race there is a color station located at Tower Park and a second color station in Tollefson Park by the finish line.  If you prefer to avoid the color, participants can easily bypass the color stations.  Please note that at the color stations, color will be gently tossed at participant t-shirts, below face level.  We encourage participants to take precautions as they see fit to make the color run comfortable for them.  Sunglasses or bandanas are great for an extra level of protection if you are worried about blowing color.

4. What is the color made of?
The color powder is made in the USA. It is made of Food Grade Corn Starch combined with Food, Drug & Cosmetic Colors (FD&C) and/or Drug & Cosmetic Colors.

5. What happens if severe weather is forecasted for the time of the race?
The race will go on rain or shine!  However, in the case of severe weather (lightning), the race will be cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

6. How does this fundraising work?
Ask your family, friends and neighbors to help support your participation in the GE Color Run!
  • If you raise $30 in pledges, you will receive a specially designed GE Color Run T-Shirt and a color packet for the run.
  • If you raise an extra $20 more to obtain $50 in pledges, your name is entered into a drawing for three (3) Summer Fun Themed gift baskets to kick off your summer fun (valued at $200)!
  • For every initial $50 raised and every $50 raised after, your name keeps getting entered to the Summer Fun Theme Basket drawings.
Most importantly, you will be helping to fund the numerous request for supplies, technology, etc that the PTO receives each year form GE staff to help support their classrooms and teaching efforts.  We have already begun receiving funding requests for the next school year Fall 2018-Spring 2019 totaling close to half of our fundraising goal with more requests expected.

7. Can I still run if I don't fundraise?
Yes!  This is a great opportunity to get moving during Screen Free Week and to have some fun with your friends and family.  If your family is unable to give/collect donations, but you would still like to run, still register!  We encourage all students to attend regardless of amount of funds raised as this is a GE Community building event and above all menat to be FUN!

8. What if I can't make the run, can I still raise pledges?
Absolutely!  This is not only a great activity to get the students up and moving during Screen Free week, but a great fundraising opportunity for Glaicer Edge.  Funds raised will help the PTO fulfill various funding requests they receive from the staff throughout the year.  The more money raised, the more we can help our school and further enrich the educational experiences of our kids!

PLUS... you will still receive a special GE T-Shirt, a color packet and entered into the drawing for the SUMMER FUN THEME BASKETS!
